The Virtual High School
The Virtual High School is an educational nonprofit that has set the standard for online and blended learning since 1996. Through our global online classrooms, schools are able to offer STEM, AP®, Honors, Gifted & Talented, and elective courses that prepare students for college and careers. Our unique learning model unites students from around the world and different socio-economic backgrounds. It gives them the opportunity to become classmates, collaborate on projects and gain new perspectives not often found in a traditional classroom. The Virtual High School makes high quality education available to middle school and high school students regardless of location. Students benefit from small class sizes, support from a teacher trained in online education, and discussions with online classmates. Our extensive catalog of online courses, private and custom e-learning solutions, blended learning for schools, and professional development for educators provides a more comprehensive 21st century education to communities across the globe.
Projects and highlights:
- Space Station Academy is a full semester credit course that offers students a virtual trip to the International Space Station. Students work on real-world experiments with astronauts and receive feedback and facilitation from former space explorers. Space Station Academy combines STEM disciplines to create an innovative and interactive learning experience for middle and high school students.
- VHS provides curriculum for approximately 60 full-time students through the Yeshiva High Tech Partnership. Students participate in 3 ways; 1) enrollments in our global collaborative; most courses for 11th and 12th grade students and science and social studies for 9th and 10th grade students, 2) 9th and 10th grade students take ELA and Math courses via VHS content and their own teacher – blended approach, and 3) teachers are taking our PD course Online Teaching Methodologies. All students take their Judaic Studies courses face to face at their school.
