Indiana Online Academy
Indiana Online Academy (IOA) is a program of the Central Indiana Educational Service Center (CIESC) that partners with over 280 schools to offer online courses to students across the state. IOA had 18,895 course enrollments in SY 2014-15 with an 89% pass rate. All courses are AdvancEd accredited and all core courses are recognized by the NCAA for college athletic eligibility. Advanced Placement courses have been approved by The College Board. IOA also provides technology professional development through PL Connect, and offers webinars and face-to-face trainings throughout the year.
Projects and Highlights:
- Technology Leadership Certification (TLC), provided by IOA, consists of four face-to-face sessions and two synchronous webinars. It is designed for teachers, technology coaches, technology integration specialists, administrators and curriculum specialists who want to be educational technology leaders in their districts or school.
- IOA is implementing the new Indiana College and Career Readiness Math and ELA Standards. They offer 20 full-day workshops to provide Indiana teachers, instructional coaches, curriculum directors and administrators with skills/knowledge to implement the new Indiana standards.
- The Course Developer Cohort is a group of subject matter experts tasked with developing full-year courses for IOA. IOA created the Course Developer online course which is completed as the educators move through the three-part development process.
- PL Connect was launched to complement the services offered to schools by the Indiana Online Academy. Professional learning opportunities are offered to counselors, educators and administrators focusing on the skills and knowledge essential to integrating 21st Century Skills into practice. The site includes professional development videos, a symbaloo webmix of resources, a blog, a PLN collaborative document, a live binder of shared resources, and links to our Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook and Bitly sites.
